School is the first experience of strong socialization beyond the family group. The challenge of Lumiar is to accompany the student in this interaction and to ensure that his or her exploitation potential is respected.

Our methodology provides two fundamental values: autonomy and affection. An autonomous child is one who can express his own wishes, knows his own limits, recognizes his needs and knows how to act in a social context.

Affection is our commitment to relate with affection, with care and with kindness, so that the child feels welcome and comfortable to relate to others in a healthy way.

From these two values ​​- autonomy and affection – the Lumiar methodology considers and creates spaces for exploration, research and fields of experience.

Lumiar Differentials

In our school, we have a view of Serra da Mantiqueira. It is at the foot of the mountains that our children develop their skills and competences. The extensive lawn is an invitation to jokes and also serves as a “classroom” to enjoy the fresh air and sun on the freshest days. The surroundings of the school are also places of exploration. Not rarely, we visit the waterfalls and the trails of the neighborhood and we make of the surroundings also a space of learning.

All meals (snacks, lunch and dinner) are produced at school, with the menu prepared by a nutritionist. We prioritize fresh food and cherish diversity on the menu to accommodate diverse eating habits.

Snacks consist of fruit juices, breads or cakes. Meals always have a protein source, a carbohydrate, a grain, a variety of salads and a dessert fruit.

In Lumiar, the moment of feeding is also part of the pedagogical project and, as such, is filled with intentionality. Since the early childhood, our students are encouraged to make the best choices and avoid wastage. This is a perennial apprenticeship that will make your child enjoy healthy foods even when out of school meals. Therefore, it is a way of skill building and health promotion.
